Interior Designer, Author, Speaker, Consultant & Business Owner.

Interior designer Mary Knackstedt is an acclaimed speaker, prolific author, and sought-after consultant on interior design business practices. She is founder and president of two successful design firms and as a consultant has helped organize new businesses and develop strategies that reversed failing businesses.

Her own company, Knackstedt Inc., of Harrisburg, PA and New York City, has handled hundreds of projects from small offices and residences to institutional complexes of more than one hundred buildings in Hershey, PA, including Founders Hall, the Hershey Medical Association, some areas of the Hershey Medical Center and the Hershey Public Library.

Focused on the physical and psychological effect of space and furnishings on human behavior, Mary has also been instrumental in numerous projects for charitable institutions spanning liturgical design and environments for children, the orthopedically limited, the vision-impaired and the elderly.

Widely published, Mary writes frequently for design magazines and trade publications and is the author of more than 1,000 articles and eleven books, including one of John Wiley & Sons most requested, The Interior Design Business Handbook, now in its seventh printing.

An impressive speaker with valuable messages to share, Mary’s ongoing work presenting and conducting seminars on business practices and client relations for interior designers takes her across the country on a regular basis.
